Berkner JV in 2 close battles w/JJP

Wednesday night the Berkner JV traveled across Richardson to face JJP in a DH. JJP got on the board first but was quickly answered with a Fr. Andrew Schaeffer 2-run home run, his first of the season. Berkner would keep the lead for a short time before yielding it to a 2 home run performance by the Mustang squad who took the game 7-4.

In game 2 the Mustangs would jump out to a quick lead behind stellar pitching that kept the Berkner bats quiet. Berkner would add a couple runs and keep the game close including adding consecutive hits paired with walks to threaten JJP in the 6th inning. The Rams would draw themselves to within 3 but wouldn’t get any closer and game 2 would go against the Rams 8-5.

Berkner Drops Close Affair at JJP

The Berkner Varsity opened their series w/JJP Tuesday night. Jr Alexis Munoz toed the rubber for the Rams and threw a complete 6-inning game. Munoz yielded a single run in the first and kept the Mustang bats idle through 4 more. The Rams answered with a run of their own but could not plate their remaining scoring threats. Pearce added 3 runs in the 5th to extend their lead and take game 1 by a score of 4-1.

Berkner Plays Close Game Before LH Drifts Away

After the spirited JV game Friday night the Varsity side spiked it up v LH. A close game was at-hand and while Berkner trailed the game was either team’s to win. Sr. Logan Ehr took the mound for Berkner and pitched 5 innings. As the Rams went to their bullpen the lead slipped away as walks and timely hitting would allow LH to add distance to what was a close game. The Rams lost 14-4.

Berkner JV leads LH into the 6th inning-loses game 2 by 1 run

Friday night the Berkner JV took on a talented LH club at Lake Highlands Ballpark. The Rams struck first in the top of the 1st inning when Fr. G’anni Cade scored. For 6 innings the Ram bats were alive and driving baseballs as Jr. Danny Hernandez, Jr. Ethan Bishop, & Fr. Andrew Schaeffer would each collect 2 hits along with Fr. Jacob Gonzales and Fr. Connor Radabaugh having 3 Quality At-Bats. The Rams took an 8-4 lead into the bottom of the 6th when LH had to empty their bench and play catch-up. LH plated 5 runs and stole the game 9-8. Fr. Jacob Gonzalez would pitch a complete 6-inning game for the Rams throwing 26 first pitch strikes.

Berkner JV Falls to LH

The Berkner JV fell to LH yesterday at Berkner RAM Ballpark. The JV had a nice top of the 1st inning when, in their first home district game, So. Jacob Healey was able to craft his way out of the inning untouched for a run. LH would follow with scoring in consecutive innings to open the game up. Later in the game Fr. Andrew Schaeffer would double for the Rams with one out but was left stranded. Fr. Aaron Tabera pitched in relief.

Berkner Battles LH

Last night at Berkner RAM Ballpark your Varsity squad squared off against traditional foe Lake Highlands. On fundamental baseball in the top of the 1st LH plated a single run. The next four innings would see both teams go toe to toe with neither gaining an advantage and 0’s placed on the board. The Wildcats then struck with 2 additional runs. The Rams could not mount a comeback with 6 outs remaining and LH would take game 1 of the series 3-0.

Berkner Varsity hosts Duncanville

For game 2 of 8-6A district play Berkner hosted Duncanville HS at Berkner RAM Ballpark. Berkner hoped to even the series with DHS. The game began with teams trading runs including a Bryce Drayton home run, his 3rd of the 2019 season, to center field, the deepest part of the ballpark. Unfortunately, the Rams would surrender 4 runs in the top of the third inning and commit several errors throughout the game ultimately dropping the contest 6-3.

Berkner Opens District v Duncanville

Berkner Varsity traveled to Duncanville HS Tuesday to open district play. Under less than ideal conditions due to wet weather Berkner and Duncanville started off with 0’s on the board. Duncanville showed patience however and drew a few walks which combined with a few Berkner errors provided enough separation for the Panthers to take game 1. Game 2 is currently scheduled for Thursday March 14 at 7p at Berkner Ballpark.

Baseball to Open District Play Over Spring Break

On Tuesday your Varsity Rams will open their district calendar v Duncanville with a scheduled 7p first pitch at Duncanville HS. The JV will also open at Duncanville but is scheduled for a 5p & 7p DH on Wednesday. Thursday the Rams will host Duncanville at Berkner Ballpark for a 7p start. Thursday will also be the introduction of our Rams Around the Horn. Come on out!
